Abstract：

Recent computational methods have contributed to the investigation of language divergence, the identification of homelands, and the dating of proto-languages. But often it is unclear how much we can trust the output of the various methods available. I will present some recent work on the assessment of methods for dating language groups and identifying their origins (homelands). Much of this work involves the use of simulations of linguistic divergence, and I will end with a presentation of my most recent use of simulations towards the goal of modeling the global spread of languages.

讲座大意：

        近年来的一些计算方法已经为语言分化研究、语言起源地的确定和原始语言的年代测定做出了贡献。但是能在多大程度上信任由各种可用方法得到的结果，我们往往不清楚。本讲座将介绍我最近所做的一些工作，对语言群体的年代测算、语言群体的来源（起源地）的研究方法进行评估。这项工作的大部分内容都涉及到对语言分化模拟的利用，最后我将介绍我最近使用的模拟方法，目的是模拟语言在全球的扩散和传播。
